Dilip Ghosh is sitting in a meeting with state leaders in Kolkata. While the state BJP president is holding a meeting in Hastings, Kolkata, the state's opposition leader in Delhi, Shuvendu Adhikari. BJP sources said he had a meeting with the party's all-India president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Shuvendur was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi without Dilip. He reached Delhi on Monday night. There is a lot of speculation in the state BJP about this summons to the top leadership, not just Dilip, but Shuvendu.
State leaders are also in the dark about what Modi, Shah and Nadda will talk about with Shuvendu. Some say there is no organizational meeting in Delhi. So Dilip was not called. Shuvendu has been summoned as the 'Leader of the Opposition'. Discussions will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday on which MLAs will be in the various standing committees of the assembly or who will be nominated as chairman. However, a large section of the state BJP does not take this simple explanation lightly. They think there is another goal for the top leadership. Those who say that the meeting of the top leadership of Delhi with Shuvendu could have been virtual. Do you have to meet the Prime Minister for all those decisions regarding the assembly?
There was resentment among the early BJP leaders in Bengal over the importance of central leadership to Shuvendu during the Assembly election campaign, and the predominance of his views in the selection of candidates for many seats. In particular, many of Dilip's followers objected. The camp is now vocal about the defeat of all the newcomers who got tickets to the BJP. Many of those who came after joining the Shuvendu Gerua camp are now stepping into the grassroots. All these are being criticized by the 'original' BJP leaders. Recently, Dilip had to face anger in Chunchura and Asansol. Many also think that the top leadership can advise Shuvendu on Tuesday and Wednesday's meeting on how the opposition leader should deal with 'Adi' and 'Navya' in this situation.
