India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been in a bad rhythm for some time and will be looking to build a great batting line-up in the opening Twenty20 International against arch-hosts England at Northampton on Friday.
England are 6-4 up in the multi-format series after a 2-1 draw in Tests and ODIs. With the exception of Mitali Raj's remarkable consistency in the ODIs, the Indian team's batting was disappointing and this is something the team will want to fix in the three T20s.
India's top two performers in ODIs Mitali and Jhulan Goswami will see the action from the sidelines. Harmanpreet, who has not scored a half-century in T20 since November 2016, will have to lead from the front. The two openers - Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana - are in good form but the team is expecting more consistency from them, especially from the co-captain.The great performer of this tour after February 2017 - Sneha Rana - is going to play his first T20. Along with Shefali, another 18-year-old Richa Ghosh of the team also performed well in the home series against South Africa. "Indian players played a lot of dot balls in ODIs, but that's something they can't do in the shortest format."
