Bengal Trinamool Congress leader was shot dead in Titagarh last night. The incident took place at P.K.Biswas road area in Titagarh around 12 am in the night on Friday.
Ranjay Srivastav, General Secretary of TMC Hindi cell in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal was returning his home with his other party workers, he was intercepted by some criminals near by Sandhya Movie hall. The alleged criminals first hurled bombs targeting Ranjan and others, later had fired few rounds of bullets. Which hits Ranjan directly. The car which was carrying him also damaged heavily.
After the incident Ranjay was taken to B.N. Bose Sub Division hospital in Barrackpore quickly, later shifted to a private hospital (Appolo Glenigles) in Kolkata, where he died a late night on Friday.
After the late night incident, the huge police were deployed in the area. Ashish Morya, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Barrackpore Police Commissionerate arrived the spot.
He said "We are looking into the matter. We can not say anything more. One person has been injured. He was shifted to kolkata. Yes, incident of bombing has been reported here, but can't say whether the bullet firing was occurred."
Sandip Prasad said "Kana Binod, Joyala Mallick, Mithu and others were ambushed beside the incident place. When we were passing through the area, an altercation was began. At that time they charged bombs on us, they even fired targetting Ranjan Srivastav, our TMC leader."
He also said "The accused are are criminals. Many cases against them in the police station. Actually we had taken several programs on 15th August and when we were returning after taking preparation of all these programs, we were attacked."
The Khardah police arrested 4 persons till this morning in connection with the murder.
