Maharashtra got a new government under the leadership of Eknath Shinde today after a political crisis that lasted for almost two weeks. Shinde was administered the oath by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at the Raj Bhavan. Devendra Fadnavis, who was the Chief Minister of the state twice with him, took oath as the Deputy CM. Just after the oath of both the leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted and congratulated him.
PM Modi made two tweets. He said, "I congratulate Eknath Shinde on taking oath as the CM of Maharashtra. He is a grassroots leader. He brings with him rich political, legislative and administrative experience. I am sure he will work towards taking Maharashtra to greater heights.
PM said that I congratulate Devendra Fadnavis on taking oath as the Deputy CM of Maharashtra. He is an inspiration to every BJP worker. His experience and expertise will be an asset to the government. I am sure that he will further strengthen the development path of Maharashtra.
Let us inform that shortly before the oath, Devendra Fadnavis had announced that the Chief Minister of the state would be Eknath Shinde. At the same time, he had made it clear that he would not join the new government. After this JP Nadda came in front of the media and he said that Fadnavis has shown a big heart. Also said that the top leadership of BJP urges that Devendra Fadnavis should become Deputy CM.
Amit Shah also tweeted about this. He said, "On the behest of BJP President JP Nadda, Devendra Fadnavis has shown a big heart and has decided to join the government in the interest of the state of Maharashtra and the people. This decision is a sign of his true loyalty and service towards Maharashtra. For this I heartily congratulate him.
On this tweet of Amit Shah, Fadnavis said, "As an authentic worker, I follow the orders of the party. The order of the party which took me to the highest post is paramount for me.” He again took oath as the Deputy CM.
