Apprehension of one Indian national, seizure of cattle and contraband items

Troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border under the dynamic leadership of Shri Ajai Singh, Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier BSF are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of antinational elements to execute their nefarious designs of smuggling and infiltration & exfiltration.
On 29.05.23 (Monday), at about 1735 hrs, alert troops of 61 Battalion BSF under Raiganj Sector of North Bengal Frontier BSF deployed at BOP Hilli- II apprehended one Indian national namely Lakhi Ram (70 Yrs) S/o Late Diwan Mardi, Vill- Bijoyshri, Danga Anchal, Police station-Balurghat, distt-Dakshin Dinajpur (WB), who was trying to cross International Boundary (IB) from India to Bangladesh near Indian village Supparipatti. He had reached Hilli from Balurghat by bus with an intention to cross the IB for meeting his cousin brother namely Mangal Mardi S/o Shan Mardi, Katla, Hakimpur, Distt Dinajpur, Bangladesh. On thorough checking, Indian currency of worth Rs. 100/- was recovered from him. The above apprehended person along with the seized currency was handed over to Police station Hili.
In addition to the above, on 29.05.2023, troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF carried out anti-smuggling drive in their respective border areas in order to thwart any attempt by ANEs to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and seized 04 cattle, 60 bottles of Phensedyl group of cough syrup and other contraband items from different border areas. The total value of the seized items is Rs. 74,056/-. The above items were seized by BSF troops while smugglers were trying to smuggle it from India to Bangladesh.
