Apprehension of 01 Bangladeshi national and seizure of cattle phensedyl & other contraband items from border area
Troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border under the dynamic leadership of Shri C D Aggarwal, DIG. (PSO)/Offg. Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier BSF are maintaining alertness of highest order on the border to thwart any attempt of antinational elements to execute their nefarious designs of smuggling and infiltration & exfiltration.
On 02nd July’ 2023 (Sunday) at about 2000 hrs, acting on a tip off, troops of BOP Dhaprahat of 6 Battalion BSF under Jalpaiguri Sector of North Bengal Frontier deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border in Coochbehar district of West Bengal apprehended 01 Bangladeshi National namely Md Jakir (35 Yrs), S/o Abdul Shattar Ponchat, Vill-Tongi Baria, PO- Shaheberhat, PS- Barisal Sodar, Distt- Barisal, (Bangladesh) while he was coming from Chagrabandha to Dhaprahat through a public transport and was further planning to illegally enter into Bangladesh from the unfenced area for his marriage and to meet his family members. During the search, 03 mobile phones and Rs. 330/- have been recovered from his possession. Apprehended Bangladeshi national along with the seized items were handed over to Police Station Kuchlibari.
In addition to the above, from 01 July to 03 July 2023, troops of under command Battalions of North Bengal Frontier BSF carried out anti-smuggling drive in their respective border areas in order to thwart any attempt by ANEs to execute their nefarious design of smuggling and seized 79 Cattle, 444 bottles of Phensedyl group of cough syrup and other contraband items from different border areas. The total value of the seized items is Rs.5,65,684/-. Above items were seized by BSF troops while smugglers were trying to smuggle it from India to Bangladesh.
